5 DIY Baby Gifts for Baby Girls

By on June 11, 2015

5 gifts for the new baby girl numbered

Do you have a baby shower coming up? Handmade gifts are always the hit of the party and new moms love to show off their new bundles with adorable accessories made by loving friends and family. When I put together a gift for a baby shower, I like to include a beanie, some booties, a sweater, a blanket, and a swaddle sack or cocoon for photo shoots. This was going to be a generic baby gift blog post but I had so many things to share, I had to split it into 2 posts so today is just for baby girls. “Baby Gifts for Boys” will be coming next week 🙂

1. Ribbon Candy Afghan pattern by Crafting Friends

I love this pattern! If I can do a little shameless plug, I made the blanket in the photo and that is my friend’s adorable baby girl. The pattern is very unique but easy to follow and I used some Caron Simply Soft yarn in Cream and Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable for the striping effect. To this day, it is still one of my favorite projects I have ever made. Believe me, you need this pattern in your life and the next baby girl that comes along needs it too!

2. Candy Pink Baby Cardigan by Mon Petit Violin

Every baby needs a handmade sweater. Even when baby has outgrown it, it will still be a treasure to the mother.

3. Ruffle Ballet Slippers by Two Girls Patterns

Two Girls Patterns has so many beautiful baby booties so really any choice from their shop is a great one but “today” I like these cute little Ballet Slippers. They really stay on baby’s feet. That is a huge plus.

4. Star Stitch Baby Cocoon or Swaddle Sack by Crochet by Jennifer

Cocoons or swaddle sacks are the perfect photo prop for newborn babies. This swaddle sack is made with the delicate and elegant star stitch. Beautiful design work by Jennifer!

5. Katrina Cloche and Booties Set by Crochet by Jennifer

When I was learning how to crochet and getting brave enough to give my projects as gifts, this was the first set I made. It came out beautifully even for a beginner and I have made a set for every new baby girl since. The color choices are endless. You’ll want to check out the finished projects on this listing for some color inspiration. The booties come in baby sizes but the cloche can be made in baby to adult sizes.

Happy Crocheting!
